☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ Customer Reviews about TCF Bank:
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆Customer Service = F I went into this branch to deposit a insurance check that was endorsed by both parties. The check was a large amount which is why I went in person to make sure there was no issues. The check was for deposit only to get my roof fixed from the massive hail storm in Blaine this summer. $0 was requested cash back. Not only was the check endorsed by both parties, it was for deposit only. While I understand it needs to be verified before the funds are released which I was expecting, I was simply turned away and said they told me thy wouldn't take it. When I asked why, they said it was due to the amount of the check and both parties needed to be present. Since the check was made out to me and company name I asked them if they needed the owner of the company or what exactly they want for paperwork to clear this check? I offered them a copy of the contract with the company showing proof of what the check was for, my sales persons contact, license information from the State, really anything they wanted. I offered to have it faxed over and made it clear I was ok with it taking extra time to process. After getting no where with the poor attitude teller, I asked to speak with the branch manager Tom Vo. He came over explain to me the same thing that they need someone from the company here in person. When I asked why, they said it was due to the amount and verification. I said I understand that but I could bring anyone in here with me and say they are with "XYZ" company that was on the check. Branch manager said if he put it through it would get flagged, I would have to fill out all this unnecessary paperwork, affidavits, etc. When I asked if I had my sales guy come in with me, what documents they would want to support he was actually authorized to sign for that company. They were unable to answer. I left the bank with check in hand. I called customer service the next day to ask about what the policy was about checks issued to two people one being an individual and a company. She didn't know, put me on hold and came back said both parties needs to be there. I then asked what paperwork is needed to show the person I brought would be authorized to sign on the company, be it the owner, a letter, or what have you. I was not given a clear answer and was simply told she just didn't know. She did offer to call another branch for me to get more information, rep of phone was nice but just couldn't solve my problem. Ended up calling my lender, fronted the check out of my own account and now have a large check that is worthless. Only bank in the country that wouldn't want to accept a large check to put in it's own bank. Not like I asked for cash or expected fund to clear immediately. A trained dolphin would have been more helpful than the branch manager. TCF is a terrible bank when it comes to customer service. I have been with them 15+ years and they just don't care about customer service even when you explain the situation. Offers no resolutions or help to solve something that shouldn't even be an issue. The only reason I have stuck with them is my goal is to go to an actual branch as least as possible, do everything online which works fine and they finally just got mobile deposit after years of waiting when it came out years ago. Employees I have dealt with at branches are usually unhelpful, like to stay in the back when there is a line, they have been cutting back hours and starting to pull out of certain Cub foods. I had to call me lender to take care of the issue since TCF doesn't train it's employees there own policy. If you are a branch type person, (which I am not) then avoid TCF at all costs including it's mortgage products, credit cards, etc. If they can't even get an endorsed deposit only check right, why even do business. All they are good for is getting cash out of your account when you need it and even then I have ran into issues where they question the amount I am getting. Online I have no issues with but the staff at branches is absolutely awful. You are nothing more than a number at TCF. Grade = FBy Dustin Danelius, December 08, 2016
